About Marmalade Circus

Marmalade Circus is a ten-piece Jazz/Latin/World-Jazz troupe from Adelaide, South Australia. Their catchy, quirky original tunes are full of spicy rhythms from Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

In recent times the ‘Circus-factor' has come to the fore with more instruments, more singing, a little dancing and to be perfectly frank, more general silliness. That is not to say that this band are just out for a few cheap laughs as their music also explores deeper themes with great passion and poignancy, but there is always something fun around the corner.

Formed in 1997 as The Mark Ferguson Quintet, the group has expanded into a modern mini big band. They have played to full houses in the ADELAIDE FRINGE, to a crowd of 80, 000 at the SYDNEY FESTIVAL ‘Jazz in the Domain' concert and at the MANLY, THREDBO, GLENELG and EAST END Jazz Festivals and also broadcast live on ABCFM.

With the cream of Adelaide's jazz musicians on stage Marmalade Circus can easily satisfy the jazz aficionado, but the mission of this band is to also reach out beyond the jazz world.
