Shireen joined Mark's commercial bands in 1997. She was an original member of the Marmalade Trio and took over the bass chair of Marmalade Circus in 2001. She has been a fabulous contributor to the sound of all of the Marmalade bands with her rock-solid groove, subtle fills and broad knowledge of Latin and pop styles.

Shireen Khemlani is one of Adelaide's most in-demand bass players. She has performed and toured with some of the best musicians and performers in Australia and overseas. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree from the University of Adelaide where she received an Australian Post Graduate Award for achieving a high distinction in performance.

Shireen KhemlaniPerforming highlights include ‘LA Maid', a SAMIA award winning all-female hard rock band touring the eastern states from 1991-1994 and also sharing the bill with the Zep Boys. LA Maid had a huge following and supported acts such as Metallica and Dynissty. 

In 1996 Shireen performed at the Sydney Opera House for the World Symposium for Choral Music with The Adelaide Connection (Elder Conservatorium jazz choir). This was followed by a US tour in 1998 with the highlight being performing at the International Association of Jazz Educators in New York.

She has worked with Todd McKenney (Dancing With The Stars/Boy From Oz) and toured nationally with Eric Johnson, and Will Ray and Jerry Donahue from The Hellecasters. 2002 saw her perform with latin jazz group Marmalade Circus in Sydney's Domain to 80,000 people. The 4-piece version, Marmalade Jam, is part of Musica Viva's ‘In Schools' program which has seen the group tour Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland. She also currently plays with progressive rock band Unitopia who's first album has been released worldwide through a Canadian record label and

13 piece latin band, TNT Latino who have toured the eastern states and supported Jose Feliciano and Angelique Kidjo.

As a freelance bass player, Shireen's talent and versatility make her one of the most sought after musicians in SA. Some of the artists she has had the opportunity to work with include the SA Police Band and Army Band, Elvis To the Max (USA), The Fabulous Singlettes, Flat On Your Bacharach, Andy Seymour, Lucifer's Lounge, Women With Standards, Eugene ‘Hideaway' Bridges (USA), Don Burrows, Kevin Hunt, Mucho Mambo (Sydney) and John Morrison. She has also supported artists such as Julio Iglesias, Michael Crawford and Mark Murphy.
